Editorial standards
How we research and recommend generators.
Our goal is to make the reasoning visible, keep product facts traceable, and put safe use ahead of sales.
How products enter the catalog
We prioritize models that are relevant to common home-backup, RV, camping, and worksite needs. We record model-specific output, fuel type, battery capacity where applicable, weight, noise information when published, pricing context, and a direct source link.
Manufacturer documentation is our preferred source for specifications. Retailer pages may be used for current availability and observed pricing. Prices are snapshots, not guarantees, and the date of the last check appears with each product.
How matching works
The finder totals the running watts selected by the visitor, adds the largest incremental startup surge, and builds in planning headroom. Products must clear the resulting running and peak requirements to appear as matches. Battery products are also evaluated against the requested runtime and estimated usable energy.
Price can help order otherwise suitable results, but a cheaper product does not qualify if it fails the calculated load requirements. Affiliate status is not a matching factor.
Reviews, testing, and language
We clearly distinguish researched comparisons from hands-on testing. We do not claim to have personally tested a product unless that testing occurred and the method is explained. Descriptions such as “best fit” refer to the visitor’s entered requirements and the published catalog data—not a universal declaration that one model is best for everyone.
Safety and corrections
Generator guidance can affect carbon-monoxide and electrical safety. We link to authoritative sources, repeat critical placement warnings, and urge professional help for household wiring, transfer equipment, fuel connections, and code-dependent work.
If a specification, price, link, or explanation is wrong, contact us with the page URL and the source you believe is more current. We review material corrections promptly and update the page date when appropriate.
