The new Yeti 1500 can power phones, laptops, tablets, cameras, lights, CPAP machines, TVs, Full size refrigerators, power tools, air purifiers, and any device you plug into a standard wall outlet. The power station offers both DC and AC power out, making it a great solution for both serious equipment as well as personal electronics that nowadays can run off DC for more efficient power delivery. The 3600W surge rating means it can also accomodate gear with compressors or motors that may require an initial spike in energy (think blenders, fridges, etc). Check your device’s wattage requirements — it must be below the continuous AC output rating (2000W) of your Yeti 1500. And when plugging multiple devices in at once, the cumulative wattage draw must not exceed that 2000W rating.

Official product questions & technical answers

How is this new Goal Zero Yeti 1500 different from the older Yeti 1500X model?
The new Yeti 1500 features exciting upgrades around power delivery, recharging, lifespan, and overall durability. The upgraded 2,000W inverter means you can power more things at once (and we've doubled the number of AC ports and increased USB Ports including 140W high-speed USB so you can really plug in); when you're empty you can fill up FAST with updated ultrafast recharging going from 0-80% in under an hour; new battery chemistry (LiFePO4 vs NMC in old models) in the new 1500 is rated to over 4,000 cycles meaning you can use this every single day for 10+ years; new IPX4 rating means the unit can hand some rain, dust, and mud so you don't have to be precious taking it outside (plus vibration testing means it can handle the bumpy ride to your destination). In short, you can run more stuff, fill up faster, and take on more adventures with confidence.
What can I power with the new Yeti 1500?
What does the IPX4 Weatherproof Rating mean for the Yeti 1500 power station?
IPX4 is a lab-tested designation that means Yeti 1500 is rated to withstand splashing in any direction, but is not suitable for full on submersion. The most real-world application of this is if your unit is at your campsite, in the backyard, at a tailgate, etc and gets caught in the rain, it can handle it. We always recommend moving it to a dry location as soon as possible, but the port shields will keep your unit protected from moisture, rain, and mud, a common part of life outside. We strongly recommend not operating live loads in the rain.
What is the estimated lifespan of the new Yeti 1500?
10+ years. The new Yeti 1500 features state of the art battery chemistry, LiFePO4 (LFP), which is rated to over 4,000 cycles. In a real-world context, this means you could fully charge and discharge your Yeti every single day (Charge + Discharge = 1 cycle) for over 10 years before seeing any meaningful decrease in performance. Safe and proper operation/maintenance/storage of your unit will also help contribute to this lifespan, but the short of it is: Yeti is built to last.
What is the battery technology used in the new Yeti 1500?
The new 6th generation Yeti 1500 uses LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) cell technology. Previous generations utilized older chemistries such as Lead Acid or Lithium-Ion NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt). The upgraded LiFePO4 battery delivers improved overall safety & stability and a longer lifespan thanks to higher cycle life (rated to 4,000 cycles).
What kind of testing has been done to ensure safe performance and use of the Yeti 1500?
The Yeti 1500 (along with the entire 6th generation Yeti Family of power stations) is certified to the UL 2743 standard for portable power equipment, and done so by a 3rd party Nationally Recognized Testing Lab (often known as an NRTL). This standard and 3rd party testing ensures rigorous electrical, mechanical, and safety requirements have been met and validates that the product is safe from fire and shock, so you can use and store your product securely and with confidence.
Why would I want the Yeti 1500 over other power stations?
In short: durability, reliability, and ecosystem expandability. Let's break it down. Durability: The Yeti 1500 is designed to thrive outside where other power stations can fail. This thing is built tough with aluminum housing, rigorous vibration/drop testing, and an IPX4 rating (it can handle mud and rain) which is seldom seen in other stations. Outdoor gear can take a beating, we factored that into our construction. Reliability: Not only is the Yeti 1500 rated to over 10 years of regular use, we also have top-tier customer service to support you in the adventures and years ahead. We pioneered the portable power category a decade ago so we've got a deeply technically trained team to answer your questions, troubleshoot your issues, and make sure you get the service you need. Expandability: Goal Zero makes an entire ecosystem of energy products to power your life outisde: our lighting and electric coolers are designed to run off Yeti power stations with minimal power draw, giving you the most efficient experience possible. We offer a variety of solar panels that range from highly mobile to semi-permanent installations, so you can pick the right solution for you.
The Yeti 1500 says it's great for outdoors, what about emergency and power outages?
The Goal Zero Yeti 1500 is a very strong option for emergency use and backup power. Not only can it power fridges, medical devices, routers, phones, and other items to keep you safe, productive, and connected, the fact that you might also being using it for outdoor activity is a key strength: the best emergency supplies are the ones you know how to use and maintain, so having experience with your power station during fun times can actually be very important practice for more serious times. This can make you more familiar with how to use it, runtime feedback, making sure your unit is charged, and more.
What kind of things can I do with the Goal Zero App and the Yeti 1500?
The Free Goal Zero App enables you get real time feedback, control, and monitoring all from the palm of your hand. With the new Yeti 1500 power station you can use the app to see how much power is coming in and out of your battery (helping you understand time to Empty or time to Full), toggle on/off ultrafast charging, turn ports on/off, track your energy history over time, optimize settings for future use, and receive over-the-air updates to ensure your systems firmware is always the latest and greatest. Whether you are inches away or miles away from your power station, this gives you instant insight and control into your unit. The app is free and you can download it today.
Is this new 6th generation Yeti 1000 & Yeti 1500 (6G) compatible with older Goal Zero solar panels, cables and accessories?
While the Yeti 1000 & Yeti 1500 6th Generation power stations uses all custom parts (batteries, hardware, etc) it is still compatible with our current Solar Panels like the Boulder 100/200 Briefcase, Nomad 100/200/400 and Ranger 300 briefcase. As well as our legacy line of HPP and 8mm solar panels and cables. The 6th Generation Yeti 1000 and Yeti 1500 units are not compatible with any of the expansion modules like the Yeti Link Expansion Module or external expansion batteries like the Yeti Tank Expansion Batteries used on previous Yeti generations.
